“Expressions of Self”

  • Revival's Fiber Arts & Gathering's 328 North Meridian Street Greentown, IN, 46936 United States (map)

Three Day Class: This is a mixed media exploration that grows with the creativity of the student. This is not your typical journal. Cut and paste is expected and encouraged. Students will create a collage journal using a discarded book. Preparation will be required to repurpose the book prior to creating the cover or first collage. This will build on techniques explored in March’s class, but it is not a prerequisite. This class is an “in-person” class which will meet at Greentown Public Library April 14th 6-8 pm, 15th 5-7 pm, and 16th 10 am to 2 pm. Due to difficulty of project participation is limited from age 12 to adult. Class size limited to 10 participants. Books will be provided with additional materials to include glue, sheets of wax paper, decorative paper, and random collage materials to make the repurposed book the students own creation. Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials to decorate their journal, building on what is provided. This class is designed to go where the student wants to take it. Once a page or section is complete revisions can always happen. It’s your book after all. Use it to chronicle how you feel, what makes you happy, your ideas. Above all just enjoy the process. I’m using mine as the way to remember all the creative things I see that I would like to try or keep as inspiration.
